Fafsa Student Loan Pointer · Last updated: 28 August 2026

This is an unofficial app. Fafsa Student Loan pointer is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, or StudentAid.gov. FAFSA is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Education. This app is a study guide and a set of calculators. It cannot submit a FAFSA form, check the status of one, see your aid record, or influence any decision about your aid.

The short version

There is no account, no sign-in, and no server of our own. The app never asks for your Social Security number, your FSA ID, a password, a bank account, or any document. Figures you type into a calculator are not saved anywhere at all — they exist while the screen is open and are gone when you leave it.

The one exception is advertising. The app is free and is paid for by adverts served through Google AdMob, and the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects a device advertising identifier in order to serve them. That is set out in full below, and it is the only thing about you that leaves the device.

1. What we do not collect

We never ask for, collect, transmit or store any of the following:

The app requests no runtime permissions and holds no access to your camera, storage, contacts, microphone or location. Its only manifest permission is internet access, which exists so the advert configuration can be fetched and adverts served.

2. What is stored on your device

The list below is written to local storage on your phone only. It is never uploaded, never synced, and never visible to us or to anyone else.

WhatWhy
Which application-checklist steps you have tickedSo your progress survives closing the app
Whether you have seen the opening cardsSo they are not shown every time
A count of how many times the app has been openedUsed only to make sure an advert never appears on a first launch
The most recent advert configuration fileSo adverts behave correctly when the network is unavailable
Advert pacing countersTo limit how often adverts appear during one sitting

Calculator and simulator values are deliberately absent from that list. They are held in memory while a screen is open and are discarded when you leave it. You can erase everything above by clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or by uninstalling the app.

3. Advertising

This app is free and is paid for by adverts supplied by Google AdMob. To serve adverts, measure them, and limit how often you see the same one, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:

This data is collected by Google, not by us. We never receive it, we never see it, and we cannot link it to you. It is shared with Google as a third party for advertising purposes. Google's handling of it is governed by Google Privacy & Terms and the Google Privacy Policy.

Your choices

4. Network requests

The app makes exactly three kinds of outbound request:

All app traffic uses HTTPS. Cleartext traffic is disabled at the platform level.

5. Children

This app is intended for adults applying for or repaying federal student aid, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

6. Retention and deletion

Because no personal data leaves your device, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on a server. Local data is removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, use Google's own controls linked above.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — for example under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, or the General Data Protection Regulation. Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, those rights are satisfied by the on-device and Google-side controls described above. If you believe otherwise, write to us and we will respond.

8. Accuracy of the content

The chapters, figures and calculators in this app are educational estimates written from publicly available information published by Federal Student Aid at studentaid.gov, captured in August 2026 and applying to the 2026–27 award year. They are not an offer, a quotation, a statement of your actual aid or loan balance, and they are not financial, tax or legal advice. Rules, rates and limits change. Your school's financial aid office determines your aid, and your loan servicer's figures are the ones that count.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version is published at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes are also noted in the app's release notes.
